Baba Dhabaleswar Temple ::- Dhabaleswar Temple Is Dedicated To The Worship Of Lord Shiva. It Is Situated At A Distance Of 27 Km From The City Of Cuttack, Odisha, India On The Exotic Island Of Lord Dhabaleswar. The Temple Located On An Island On River Mahanadi, Is Embellished With Stone Carvings That Back To The Early 10th And 11th Century. The Serene Ambiance, In Which The Temple Is Situated, Inspires Spiritual Feeling Among One And All.

The Present Temple Structure Was Constructed During The Rule Of Gajapati Empire.It Is Said That Once The Ruler Of The Region Set Out On A Hunt With His Personal Bodyguards And Attendants. During The Course Of The Hunt, They Discovered The Original Temple Which Was In A derelict State. The King Ordered The Renovation Of The Temple, Granted An Area Of Land Measuring 314 Maana. He Is Also Entrusted The Care And Service Of The Temple To One Mali. The Family Of Mali Later On Found The Village Of Malisahi Which Falls On The Way To The Temple. This Was Done In 16th Century CE. The Present Day Temple Was Renovated And Repaired By Rulers Of The Athgarh State. 

The Name Of Temple Was Derived From Dhabala Which Means White And Eswar Which Refers To God, Hence The Name Dhabaleswar Temple. According To The Mythological Legend, It Is Said That Once A Thief Stole A Black Calf And Hid In A Temple That Was Dedicated To Lord Shiva. Since The Thief Was Hiding Inside A Temple, The Local Crowd Couldn't Dare To Enter The Temple And Bring The Thief Outside And Continued To Wait For Him Outside. Dhabaleswar Temple Was Built In The 14th Century Although There Are Some Stone Carvings Present In The Temple Which Belong To The 11th And 12th Century. The Temple Was Built According To The Kalinga Architecture Style And Is Located On An Island, 27 Kilometres Away From Cuttack.

The Hanging Bridge Is About 245 Feet Long. Another Attractions Of The Dhabaleswar Temple Is The Suspension Bridge Which Connects The Temple. It Was Built In 2000. There Are Two Such Bridges At Risikesh- "Laxman Jhula" & "Rama Jula" Having The Length Of 140 Meters And 200 Meters Respectively. However, The Length Of Dhabaleswar Jhula Is 245 Meters. It Is The Longest Suspension Bridge In Our Country. This Bridge Facilitates For The Coming Of The Devotees To Pay Their Reverence To Lord Dhabaleswar. Now It Is A Great Place Of Pilgrimage For The People Of Odisha And Also Out Side States. 

How To Reach :: - The Temple Can be Reached By Bus Via Chowdwar, Nuapatana, Mancheswar. It Can Also Be Reached Via Bidanasi Through Boating On River Mahanadi. Mancheswar Which Is The Major Way To Reach The Temple. Nearest Railway Station Is Cuttack And Nearest Airport Is Bhubaneswar Capital Of Odisha.
