Mahendragiri Hill Station ::- Mahendragiri Is A Part Of The Eastern Ghats, Is The Second Highest Point With 4,925 It (1,501 Mtr) Above The Sea Level. Bout 30 Km From Mandasa Srikakulam District Of Andhra Pradesh, It Is Located In Paralakhemundi Sub Division Of Gajapati District Odisha State. And 175 Km From Silk City Berhampur Of Ganjam District. The River Mahendra Tanaya Flows Down The Mountain To The East Through Mandasa And Joins The Bay Of Bengal At Barua, Which Was Once An Important Part. 

About Mahendragiri Hill ::- Mahendragiri Has Got Spiritual And Mythological Significance. It Was Described In The Epic The Mahabharat And In The Puranas. It Also Find Reference In The Works Of Part Sarala das. The Author Of Oriya Mahabharat And Radhanath Ray, the Initiate Of Modernity In Odia Literature. Most Importantly, It Is Place Of Worship During Mahasivaratri And Attract Thousands Of Pilgrims Every Year. Traditionally The Priest In These Temples Belong To Savana Tribe. According To Mahabharat And Brahananda Purana, Sage Parasuram The Sixth Incarnation Of Lord Vishnu, Spent His Life Here In Meditation To Alone For His Sin Of Killing The Kshatriya In 21 Rounds. The Legend Is That Pandavas Visited Mahendragiri During Their One - Year Period Of Living Underground (Agyantvasam) And Constructed The Shiva Temples For Worship At Different Place On The Mountain .

These Temples Structures Come Under The Status Of Protected Monuments Under Antiquate Monument Archaeological Remains And Sites Act ACT 1958. There Are You Can See The Bhima Temple, Judhistir Temple, Kunti Temple Ashram Building And Other Structures. The Temples Has Inscription Which Is Believed To Be That Of King Rajendra Chola II (11 Century ). There Are Few Stone Inscription Found Here Belonging To Chadagangadeva (AD1123) Of South India. Long Before Devendravarman, In The 4th Century AD, Gupta Monarch Samudragupta During His Southern Expedition, Arrived At Mahendragiri Where He Defeated A King Named Svamidatta, And Several small Princes, As Record In The Allhabad Pillar Inscription. Mahendragiri Was The Cradle Land Of The Early Civilization Of Kalinga. The Mythology Refers To The Mahendra As A Sacred Place Being On Of The Seven Kulagiris Or Seven Principal Chains Of Mountains In India. The Bhima Temple Steps Made Of Stone Became Visible Though For A Short Distance Only Say About 3 Hundred Meters from Judhistir Temple. The Temple Is Made Up Of 18 Crudely Cut Stone Blocks Of Approximately 10feet, 4feet, 5feet Dimensions. The Makeup Of Bhima Temple Is Less Refined And Is Rather Crude Architecturally.

The Hilly Terrain, Endowed With Dense Tropical Semi Evergreen Forests, Composes A Unique Ecological Marvel In Harbouring The Genetic Diversity.
